A devastating landslide occurred today (9 January , 2025) in Camp 4, at the border of Camp 17, Block H89, severely affecting three Rohingya refugees from the same family. The victims included a mother and her two children. Due to the swift response of the community, all three were rescued. Unfortunately, the mother sustained critical injuries, and her condition remains uncertain. They were immediately transported to the hospital for urgent medical care.

This tragic incident underscores the extreme vulnerability faced by Rohingya refugees living in the overcrowded and hazardous camps of Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. Landslides and other natural disasters occur frequently, putting thousands of lives at risk.

The recurrence of such life-threatening events highlights the pressing need for enhanced safety measures, comprehensive disaster preparedness programs, and sustainable relocation strategies to ensure the safety and dignity of the refugees. It is imperative for the international community and responsible authorities to take immediate and coordinated action to mitigate these risks and uphold the fundamental rights of this vulnerable population.
