66 Rohingya rescued in Teknaf, five brokers arrested

 


Police rescued 66 Rohingya while trying to go to Malaysia by sea at Teknaf in Cox's Bazar. At this time, five people involved in human trafficking were arrested along with 4 rounds of rifle bullets, a ramada and a kirich.

 They were rescued from Abdul Amin's temporary tent house on the hill adjacent to Kachchpia graveyard in Baharchhara union of the upazila on Sunday (December 29) early morning. The rescued victims include 18 men, 11 women and 37 children.

 They are all residents of various Rohingya camps in Teknaf-Ukhia. The arrested human traffickers are Rashed (25) son of Abdus Shukkur of Shilbania Para of Teknaf Municipality, Saleh Ahmed (35) son of Sultan Ahmed of Kachchpia area of Baharchra Union, Nurul Kabir (27) son of Sultan Ahmed of the same area, Syed Alam (24) son of Rashid Ahmed. And Gachua Iman Ali of Chittagong district Kamrul Islam Prakash Md. Shipon (32) son of Abdul Ghafoor of Kwaingchari Para of Sabrang Union is now the father-in-law's house of Chowkidar's house.

Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Ghiyas Uddin confirmed this.

 OC Ghiyas Uddin said, early Sunday morning, members of the human trafficking gang organized on the hills adjacent to the Kachchpia cemetery in Baharchhara Union gathered some people in a temporary tent house of Abdul Amin for the purpose of smuggling them to Malaysia by sea; On such information, a police team conducted a raid there.

 At that time, some people fled when they sensed the presence of the police. Later, Tabu was able to rescue a total of 66 victims including 18 men, 11 women and 37 children from inside the house. At that time five people involved in human trafficking were arrested along with 04 rounds of rifle bullets, a ramada and a kirich.

 He also said that necessary legal action will be taken against the detained and absconding accused.
